| It's been quiet of late. A few last minute Farwell
parties for leaving teachers, namely Micha or Micah,
hmm...can't spell the name right, who is leaving today. There
was some hope that I might go to Seoul this weekend but
there were several complications and it did not pan out.
The school is taking a teachers only field trip out to
the coast, but I may not go, as I have not decided yet
whether I can afford it. Aside from a rather persistent
hangover all is well with me. After coming home very late Friday night (in reality
was about 4:00 Saturday morning) I decided that I was
quite drink, hungry (having not eaten all day) and not
really very tired. Dancing is fun, and tends to leave one
full of energy and there was lots of interesting dancing
to be done Friday night. So upon returning to the
Soo-sung Donga, ah my magic words, I decided to go see if
I could find some vegetarian fare at one of the little
street vendors. I was in luck as I managed to stumble
upon one close at hand, that seems to only be open from
the hours of 11 p.m. to the wee hours of the morning. I approached and asked a little drunkenly if they
might have "lamen" which is how ramen usually
gets pronounced, but was informed that they did not. I
asked if they what they had, and they said they had
mondu, a stuffed dumpling, and oo-dong, some sort of
fish. I asked if the mondu was "cogi-bego"
meaning, without meat, so then I asked if it was
"care-on beg-o" without egg. I was told it was
essentially veggie friendly, and I was drunk so I decided
to believe them. It was actually quite tasty. I was invited to sit with
what I assume must be the proprietor of the little moving
establishment and we talked, me pointing at little
phrases in my Korean book and trying to pronounce them,
him, answering in Korean or English, or pointing at the
same book for a response. It was very interesting,
considering how drunk I was, that I was able to hold up a
semblance of conversation. After that I went and played on a computer at a pc
bong, and eventually stumbled home sometime around nine
am. Only to head back out Saturday night. My, no wonder
I've been hung over for days. Anyway, things keep going, and I'm having a good time.
Just wanted to remind you that I am still alive,
still in Korea, and officially out of deodorant, eek, but
will try to find some soon. (Actually I did find some,
it's only problem being that it is an aerosol and I'm
loathe to use it, but desperation is kicking in). Missing you. |
