That pretty much sums up the weather situation for the last three days here in Daegu, South K. It's been very cool, and very wet and rainy since Thursday, which seems to have headed off the potential warm streak we were supposed to get. I'm not complaining, I like the cool weather a great deal. This week has been kind of crazy, but most of it is work related craziness which really isn't a whole lot of fun to talk about. This week we have had all of the mothers for one class come in and threaten to pull their children, the director questioning the value of one of the teachers, the children getting very energetic and crazy, and the school going back and forth from having allot of student coming in to apply to having no students coming in at all. I'm not sure that any of that makes any sense, but I thought I might at least put it down for future reference. The new teacher, Liz seems to finally be settling in which should help things a great deal. I discovered this week that North Korea has admitted to Nuclear capability, and I have to admit that it was news that made the forgien teachers circut rather quickly. All of us were a bit suprised and taken aback, and considering our fearless Shrub in chief, it is worrisome to think that a potential war could be brewing only a few hundred miles away. For the most part the Koreans acted surprisingly nonchalant about the announcment, saying that they had known for years that the North had possible nukes. The Korean reaction, actually, is really fascinating. Only a few of the people that I talk to seemed to be at all concerned about the advisary to the North. A few of the South K's are even proud, saying that Korea should have weapons to protect itself. The general beilef here is that if the North has weapons it can only be good for the South, which would make a good partner. Mr. Kim even suggested that it would make a strong case for reunification between the two Korea's. I still think it's just mind boggling how the North and South interact here at all. So, aside from the news and the school and possibly the weather, it's been quiet and calm. I have just finished the 6th book of the Series of Unfortunate Events, and I must say I really do think these Lemony Snicket books are excellently well written. Well, more as it happens, feel free to write, as e-mail is one of the few forms of English communication I have outside of my co-workers and who wants to spend all of their time with co-workers.
